I’m 13. I didn’t always have oily skin, it’s just been for like the last 6 months… I don’t get many spots, and hardly eat any sweets and not much greasy food. Does anyone have tips for oily skin?
Just wash it twice a day with a facewash/facewipes (a gentle one if you have delicate skin). Don’t overwash as it can maker it oiler. its normal at 13 to have oily skin, and a lot of people just have it naturally. oily skin is also a sign you will have youthful skin apparently. Tea tree often helps too, and if you’re English try Lush as they have bril facemasks for oily skin.
Your biggest bet is to NOT use any commercial acne products, as they make your skin worse (like the Clearasils, Oxy pads, and so forth). I’ve learned that natural products are the best (the ones that are chemical-free and alcohol-free). Witch hazel is a great natural toner that you can use every morning. Only use it on your oily areas. You can also use a natural moisturizer to keep your skin from getting too dry. Being 13, my guess is that your hormones are changing and causing your skin to change. My best recommendation would be to look into Burts Bees products, as they make many wonderful products that are natural and good for your skin. I use just about all of their products, and even my little sister has switched over after she read about chemical damage to skin/hair from “regular” products. Once you use natural products for a couple days, you FEEL the difference! I hate to sound like an advertising firm, but I feel very strongly about hygiene and skincare, and I avoid chemicals like the plague because they only make skin worse. And the good thing is that you can find Burts Bees at Target, WalMart, and CVS. Oh, and don’t use regular bar soap on your face! You know how you get that nasty ring around the tub after washing? Well that’s what happens to your face when you use barsoap. Yuck! Use a cleanser that is specifically for your face (definitely not a bar), and wash morning, noon, and night. Good luck and I hope your skin feels better soon!
I’ve read articles about tea tree oil and how effective it is at getting rid of oily skin.
If that doesn’t seem to work for you, try some cleansing face wash. It’ll get rid of the oily skin for about a day, then you’ll just have to use it again.
Take a juice of any fruit (orange, sweet lime, watermelon or papaya) and apply on the face as a mask. It cleanses the skin, closes pores and removes oilness. For more details on oily skin log on to
